London – March 24, 2014
Following its Inauguration Ceremony in Athens in 2013, the Greek Shipping Hall of Fame chose London as the setting for a tribute to its first 20 Inductees.
More than 300 Greek shipping personalities, their partners in the UK maritime service industries and their guests filled the famous art deco ballroom of the Park Lane Hotel which hosted the gala dinner. Many of our Inductees were closely associated with London at key times in their careers and the event further celebrated more than a century of close maritime ties between Greece and the UK.
The unprecedented evening celebrating Greek shipping was supported by the Greek Shipping Co-operation Committee and a number of prestigious sponsors that helped to make this a very special event for all who attended.
Notable ingredients of a great night included presentation of the Inductees for 2013, our first 15 Minutes of Fame speech - given by Stathes Kulukundis – and a live performance by singer Irene Zerva.
A portion of the proceeds from the event was donated to our charity partner, Hellenic Hope.
