The Greek Shipping Hall of Fame is pleased to announce The London Event, which will take place on Monday 24 March at the Park Lane Hotel, Mayfair. <\/p>

The London Event will be a gala dinner evening that will celebrate Greek shipping and its alliances with the London maritime community. We are proud that The London Event is supported by the Greek Shipping Co-operation Committee. The Greek Shipping Hall of Fame\u2019s London Event follows its highly successful Inauguration Ceremony last April in Athens attended by 500 top shipping people. The Greek Shipping Hall of Fame is delighted to have the support of ABS as the Lead Sponsor for the London Event. <\/p>

Christopher Wiernicki, Chief Executive Officer of ABS, comments: <\/p>

\u201cABS is proud to continue its association with the Greek Shipping Hall of Fame, which is a fitting tribute to the many outstanding individuals who have shaped the Greek fleet from the Liberty Ships post World War II to the present day. The influence of these individuals and of Greek shipping as a whole has been profound, and it is a legacy that continues to impact our industry\u2019s future.\u201d The wartime Liberties were built and maintained to ABS class, and their acquisition by Greek shipowners after World War II marked the foundation of ABS' activities in the Greek market. Bonds between the classification society and the Greek shipowning community have strengthened over the last 65 years.<\/p>

The London Event commences with a welcome Cocktail Reception and The Greek Shipping Hall of Fame is very pleased that this will be hosted by Citi Private Bank as the Cocktail Reception Sponsor. The Park Lane Hotel\u2019s historic Art Deco Ballroom, with its unsurpassed atmosphere, will provide a unique setting for celebrating the first 20 Inductees into The Greek Shipping Hall of Fame, including the new Inductees for 2013. Many of the greats of the Greek shipping industry were closely associated with London in the course of their careers.<\/p>

The event is also being supported by the Baltic Exchange and Deloitte, as Premium Sponsors.<\/p>

Sponsors so far also include Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement, ClassNK, Commerzbank International Wealth Management, Aegean Marine Petroleum Network, and travel sponsor Aegean Airlines. A portion of the proceeds from the evening will be donated to Hellenic Hope, a UK-registered charity that helps children at risk in Greece from the current economic crisis.<\/p>
