Callimanopulos and Alexander G. Tsavliris emerged as the 2013 Inductees after voting among members of the Greek Shipping Hall of Fame Academy, an honorary membership organisation comprising numerous leading shipowners, executives and other experts from today's shipping community.&nbsp;<\/p><p>Pericles G. Callimanopulos (1892\u20131979) Pericles Callimanopulos dedicated most of his career to establishing an international liner company that would serve the Greek economy as well as efficiently cater to world trade. His triumph in achieving this goal against all the odds makes him a unique figure in the history of Greek shipping.&nbsp;<\/p><p>Alexander G. Tsavliris (1914\u20131973) Alexander Tsavliris was among the first shipowners who supported the development of Piraeus as a maritime centre. He became a leading owner of dry cargo ships and is remembered for putting Greece on the international map for salvage operations.&nbsp;<\/p><p>Our new Inductees will shortly be featured with full biographies and other media in the Greek Shipping Hall of Fame, which resides at www.greekshippinghalloffame.org&nbsp;<\/p><p>Voting for Inductees takes place annually in the month of October.
